This page contains information about bootleg albums and CD's made of music by Talking Heads and their individual members. Please note that this list is not complete; if you have some information to add, please E-mail me. The entire bootleg survey, with complete tracklistings and additional info in download-friendly ASCII format, and can be found here. Only "real" bootlegs (silver CD's and vinyl) are listed in the bootleg survey - no homemade or home-compiled CD-Recordables, live audio cassettes, MP3s or torrents are included here. Some FAQ's about bootlegs - About bootleg buying The bootlegs featured in the Talking Heads bootleg survey were all (illegally) released by bootleg labels. Most of these companies are out of business these days and their bootlegs are very hard to find (as it is prohibited to sell them). Sometimes people offer bootlegs on auctions sites such as eBay (although eBay's rules forbid sellers to offer such items). Look for descriptions like "rare", "live" and "import" and make sure (ask the seller prior to bidding !) you are bidding on an original CD and not a CD-r copy. Remember that original bootlegs are not for people who look for bargains. Bootlegs on CD-r are worth next to nothing, so that's what you should pay for them. Fair traders have a policy of never selling bootlegs from their collection, but they're most likely willing to trade bootlegs with you. If you don't care about accurate tracklistings and sound quality, downloading torrents and mp3's is the way to go - there are plenty of sites that haven't been taken down by the authorities yet where you can fairly easy download some excellent Talking Heads live shows. - Taping policy Talking Heads never had an official taping policy - it was simply prohibited to record any shows. Look at the bootleg lists that are floating around to see how much impact this had on avid tapers ;-) Tom Tom Club allows audience taping (no soundboard) and photography. Read Tina Weymouth's statement on the taping/photography policy of Tom Tom Club David Byrne does not have a taping policy; recording- and photo equipment is prohibited by default and it's up to the personnel of the club to decide wether or not they let you in/remove you/confiscate your equipment. So be carefull.
