Did you do it by right clicking it, and then "Set As Desktop Background?"

You should right click your desktop, hit Personalize, and work from there. It won't stretch it.

years ago, when I had more time on my hands than I knew what to do with, I made up a bunch of these thingys - unfortunately I dont have them anymore, I think I had one for each song on Stop Making Sense ..
anyway, you get the idea ...
