Let's see now- not hugely informative, the David Byrne stuff was mostly what we could find elsewhere. We were asked before the show not to make recordings so you will have to rely on my memory. 8-) I will add as I remember.

Re digital music earnings.Spotify was mentioned, David said that he worked out what he earned from Lazy on Spotify would just about buy him a good lunch.

Although up and coming musicians might suffer from illegal downloading, their fans were likely to contribute through buying merchandise. More established musicians had benefited from people not being able to download illegally previously.

Why do musicians put up with the poor quality of MP3s? It doesn't matter to most people who listen on computers or MP3 players. D.B. himself occasionally listens to vinyl, but when he wants to concentrate on something will put it on his MP3 player to listen to while jogging. It seemed to matter most to DJs like Dave Haslam who noticed the difference in quality played through big speakers. Music still affected people when the only way of listening was through tinny radios. (D.B. mentioned "Mr Tambourine Man" by the Byrds being an influence.)

There was talk of being able to collaborate easily nowadays on t'internet, stuff like that. Oh, and "Why the big suit?" But we know about that.

Oh, and I forget exactly what the question from the audience was (something about which of his recordings he was satisfied with I think,) but David said that one of his songs where it all came together was Outside of Space and Time, on Love This Giant.
