Radio Thread

For lack of a better idea, I’m starting a thread about DB radio. Are you listening? What do you think? Post it here.

This month is called Halloween Mishmash, and I think you should be listening to it. It’s all candy, no vegetables. (What are musical vegetables? Remember modern classical month? Uh-huh, stuff like that. Good for you, but unappealing.) This month has Feist, Bjork, Wire, all cool stuff. Plus, there are mysterious extra letters in the song and band titles. Anybody good with secret codes? Maybe it spells “Paul is dead” or something. :ugeek:

Sorry, you know about DB’s monthly playlist, right? Here’s a link. http://www.davidbyrne.com/radio/index.php

So, when you look at the list of all the songs, you’ll have no idea what I’m talking about. BUT, when you start playing the songs, the artist names and titles in ITunes or whatever is identifying the song and artist have mysterious extra letters. I tried just writing them down in order, but they’re jibberish as far as I can tell.

So, example, a couple of songs playing in ITunes and were identified in ITunes and the player itself as:

My Brightest Ddiamond - Be Brave [4:17] - All Things Will Unnwind
and
Wiree - Dot Dash [2:24] - On Retuurning (1977-1979)

See the extra letters? Extra d, extra n, extra e, and extra u. Why? What does it mean??? Yes, I have run out of interesting things to talk about. :?

It could mean one of two things - horrific typos, or more likely, corrupted software.

And no, I didn't know of this.

Maybe, but they don't look like typos. They look like some kind of arty thing done on purpose, just from the places they fall in the words. Plus, there are no transpositions like you see in tpyos, no msitakes or omisions like you see when people tpye too fst. It's just exxtra letterss.

You didn't know about the radio stream, right? Oh, cool. I feel like I've done my good deed for the day. You were saying that you didn't think there was much good music being produced today. I think there is, but you have to look for it. You should check out the DB radio this month. Lots of good stuff!

December playlist is Christmas music. :xmas: I get exhausted by the bad music my ears are assaulted with every December. :? Maybe there's some good stuff here, but I'm post-traumatic. My kids will demand Christmas music though, so maybe this will appease them.

I like Sufjan Stevens' Songs for Christmas. Kind of surprised it didn't make the playlist. Anyone else have Christmas music that doesn't make you long for deafness?

DRC claims his Monkees admiration is ironic, but he found that link suspiciously quickly! Could we have a Daydream Believer on our board? :blbl:
