Thanks so much!

It was the first time I'd used my new Canon (with a 300 mm telephoto) - I only bought the thing Sunday. It has some feature called "image stabilization" which certainly works well, because out of the 329 photos I shot, most of them were in-focus, despite my jamming along with the music. I didn't upload all of the good shots, because many of them were essentially the same things in sequence.

Here's an article about the concert that perfectly describes my experience as well:

I'll second that - 329 pics - cripes!
Must be a decent camera - I wonder if Santy might oblige???

Some fine photos, indeed. This type of photography is the reason why Robert Fripp... noted phobic... literally hid behind a cabinet on King Crimson's 2008 mini-tour. In previous years he sat in the dark and would on occasion storm off the stage in mid-song if a photographic flash interrupted his thought.

My friend who accompanied me to Byrne's Asheville concert came to the same conclusion, "Best.Concert.Ever."

Myself, I've seen far too many concerts over 30 plus years to rank favorites... how does Byrne 2008 rank against Bowie 1976, Tangerine Dream 2005, Talking Heads 1983, Springsteen 1976, or Elton John 1973?

Thanks again, guys!

Well, if Santa's gonna get it for you, he should get it *now*!

My son is on the Best Buy Geek Squad, and was going to get that camera and telephoto set (Canon EOS Rebel XS 1000 D) for $660 before tax (the employee discount rate), but Best Buy put them on sale for $599 for both the camera and the telephoto *this week* Sale ends Sunday, I think. The telephoto lens is the EF 75-300 mm. As you can see, excellent pix, despite the darkened theater, my dancing about and my being seated 121 rows back from the stage! (I never went down to the floor - I stayed in my seat area)

What a stocking stuffer! Congrats, you'll love that thing.

By the way, I didn't realize how many lurkers are on this board - the new visitor hits on my DB page have exploded! It's a Trek site, and the former champion page was my convention diary, but the DB page has already left that one in the dust.

I think David looks far better in that tutu than conventional wisdom would suggest anyone should.

Oh, I don't know - a ballerina might look a bit better, though he did look kinda sweet. :D

That is hands-down, the most surprising thing I've ever seen at a concert!
