I know I'm turning 40 this year - but is this really 25 years old?!

SMS was released in 1984, so it's now almost 27 years old! Time is a pony ride!

I found an interesting possible connection to SMS in the field of virology in this werk's New Yorker. In the 1980s, the decade when the movie came out, a scientist at the University of Nebraska developed an anti-viral technology that inserts dysfunctional genetic code into viruses, rendering the viruses sterile. He named the defective code "antisense." Maybe he was inspired by the movie? Maybe the movie, by inspiring this scientist, will save humanity from the next plague! Maybe....
There's no way to communicate.
