Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking

Postby cyberyukon on November 2nd, 2009, 7:42 am

This is the coolest thing you'll see this week. Imagine if Carl were still alive today.

The guy had such faith and wonder in our species, the universe and the potential of both.

Speaking of Hawking Heads, seems to me someone once fit Hawking-like lyrics about black holes to the tune of "Found a Job" on the old board...

Part of what intrigues me about this clip is that Sagan has a way of spinning words together into a colorful, articulate and even lyrical quality.

Also, the natural pauses and inflexions of his voice lend themselves very easily to a sort of melody which can be, with percssive beat and a piano riff thrown in, forged into a quite catchy tune.

Which brings up the question of whether or not songs--or at least good ones--intentionally or unintentionally mimic the natural and maybe even subtle styles and "colors" of natural human communication. Or maybe vice-versa.
